Dad's B-day and Roaring Camp

This week we stayed at Roaring Camp for a Civil War Re-enactment. We went on Tuesday and stayed until Monday. By Monday I really wanted to go home, take a shower, and sleep in my own bed. I was really glad once we got home! :) So last week I wanted to go out on the field as a Corpsman (medic). I got dressed in a uniform and had lots of fun! I think my mom got a picture of me smiling on the field.

It is tradition (have any of you seen Fiddler on the Roof? The word tradition makes me think of the song.) that we decorate the house for my dad's birthday since we are not always there to celebrate. Now I like to go crazy with the balloons and signs, so the house was filled of things to celebrate my dad's birthday. I took pictures of everything in the house and also some of the Civil War Re-enactment.

I thought that I would put some stuff up in my dad's bedroom :)

I like to use my stuffed animals

I got the verse idea from a book

There always has to be a balloon on the fan!

Our homemade happy birthday sign

I have such a great dad.... :)

I really like the double balloon style!

I REALLY LOVE MY DAD!!!

Our amazingly stuffed car. You can buy it for only $19.99! (Just kidding, I had to do that!)

The little space that I have.... Bummer....

This little guy was so cute!

We were on the other side of Roaring Camp this year! We had more shade this time! :)

The Lone Tent

So awesome!

Me, Matthew, and Mom like to squat down to get pictures

These three shots are my favorites!

This spot got filled up with tents during the weekend

The last day...Drinking some root beer and reading Pride and Prejudice...I was so ready to go home....

Since all we had for my dad's birthday was store bought cupcakes, my mom made an apple pie for his "cake" today. Looking forward to eating it with some vanilla ice cream! Yum!

The week and weekend went really well. It was really nice to sleep in my own bed last night instead of a creaky and hard cot. I have 204 more pages to go in Pride and Prejudice. That book makes me want to read it out loud. Even more when I get to a Mrs. Bennet part. Okay so here is another poem:

There once was a flower
It was there every hour
It was so pretty and fair
That I wouldn't even dare
To touch it because it's so rare

Here is another one:

There was a gingerbread man in my backyard
I wondered what he was doing there
I checked the oven and one wasn't there
So I tried to catch him, but he kept slipping away

I will get him one day no matter how far I go
I won't let him out of sight until I get that one
I really don't know how he can see
For I didn't even put eyes on him!

The next blog post I do, I will make sure I put as many poems as I can. We met a woman that came over from England and is re-enacting with her family. She asked my mom if I liked poems and my mom said that I have been writing some. Well, one thing led to another and she said that if it was alright, she would send over some books of poems to me and that I can keep them for awhile. I thought that was so cool! Well, we are going to have pizza for dinner and my mom just stuck it in the oven, so I better go so she can have enough time to read my blog post and then post it! TTFN! Ta Ta For Now!

Yosemite for Mother's Day

For Mother's Day we decided that we would go to Yosemite, since it is my mom's favorite place to go. And we couldn't think of anywhere else to go. I forgot my camera (plus it fell off my bed and the settings wheel is all messed up) so I had to bring my iPod to take pictures. It was awkward at first, but then I saw all the people that were using their iPhones.

We saw a lot of these little red flowers. We looked them up when we got home and saw that they are called Snow Plants. I really don't know why they are called that but my dad said that maybe it's because you can see them in the snow. I think maybe he's right.

 I really like this shot
This tree was huge!

My awesome log shot

I thought these were pretty cool

The bugs there were massive. Even the ants.

My woodland shot

These were the Snow Plants I was talking about

This reminded me of when Mary and Mary were going to visit Jesus in the grave. All I need is a angel sitting on the rock.

We went up to Glacier Point. The view was amazing!

Postcard shot!

Someone was saying there should be a zip line down to the hotel. That would be one long line...

My brother has a shot like this, but we were at the Grand Canyon when he took the shot.

There was also snow up at Glacier Point

There are lots of trees in Yosemite

So I can say I intromit a letter in the mailbox for my cousin? That's awesome.

If you have watched Star Wars you would be thinking the same thing right now. Where is the Ewok and Princess Leia?

The whole day was really fun. We got to explore some places that we haven't seen before and my mother really enjoyed it. Oh, and about the picture of the word of the day, that was just a random photo that I took a few days before. So since I wanted to post more poems I will write another one.

I wrote a blog
And I have lots of fun,
And only word I can think of is bog,
To rhyme with blog

I post lots of pictures
And write lots of words,
You can't rhyme with pictures
So I guess this will have to do

I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip! :)

My Quilt

So, Matthew's graduation went really well. People kept saying what it felt like to have 50% of my class gone. They also said that I would be the only one in my school, so I would be class president, treasurer, vice president, and secretary all in one. If more people had kept it up they would have seen a red, teary face. While Matthew was doing his speech I teared up.

Well, back to the subject of my title: My Quilt. I was thinking that I would want a normal quilt in my room for if I didn't want the horse one. I looked though the closet and didn't see anything that would make a good quilt. My mom suggested that we go to Jo-Ann's while we were running errands the next day. We did and found some cute fabric. (I think it went perfect with my room because the fabric has polka-dots on them and I also have hanging paper dots on my wall.) So here is what we did so far:

Here is the fabric we pick out.

Our sewing area

My mom pinned all the pieces together while I sewed

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing.....

"A seam ripper is your BFF." That is so not true. :(

My mom ended up ironing the rest...... :)

That little lightblub so does not give you enough light

Almost finshed! Just keep sewing.... :)

Let's get this thing done! (Tomorrow, tomorrow, sometime tomorrow)

One of my cool and awesome shots

Four eyes. :)

I AM SO HAPPY! Can you tell? I certainly can't. :)

And that completes my blog post about my quilt. I hope you like it! I will try and keep you updated on what is happening. Oh, and one more thing. I have been doing poems lately and I want to share one with you:

There was a cat in the Byrd's backyard
That was always on guard
That cat would never leave

Till one day we found a way
When it came to their doorway
We sprayed it with a hose
And my brother said "There it goes!"

There really was a cat in our neighbors backyard, but my brother shot around it with the airsoft gun to scare it so it wouldn't come back. So, maybe if you like this poem I will write a few more on my blog? Your choice. Thank you for reading!

What we do with our free time

I really like having free time during the day. I had a trying day though... I was having a hard time playing a piece on the piano and then I didn't understand math this morning. So, to let it all out, me and Matthew had some fun out in the backyard. You will never guess what we like to do for fun in the yard in the summertime. :)

Matthew likes to shoot the BB gun

Our targets

I like to shoot the bow

My amazing skills. :)

Since May Day is coming up, we like to give the neighbors May Day baskets. We saw an idea on Pinterest and made it our own.

Here are the baskets. You can tell me and my brother like to stack things

Listening to Downton Abbey! I can't wait for the next season!

Iced Coffee and Crackers. Yum!

Our flowers

Also during our free time I like to read and draw. Oh, and don't forget, I like to go outside. I have been trying different ways to draw. Some I don't color, others I color, some I do with Sharpie and last of all I have tried to do some with pastel. Although I can't show you all my artwork (I put them in different places and usually can't find them). I was able to find some of my artwork. :)

I got the idea from my copywork book and changed it up a bit

I got this idea from a picture on my computer. This one is for you, Grandma!

I hope that you enjoyed seeing what I like doing during my free time! I will keep you updated when I have something else to write about! Maybe I will do a blog post about Matthew's graduation.....
